The Association of Early Pregnancy Units (AEPU) has been in existence since October 1999. There are over 200 Early Pregnancy Units across the UK located mostly in Gynaecology departments and staffed by trained nurses and/or ultrasonographers.

The AEPU wish to provide accessible information to help patient choice and allow access to their local EPU when needed (see map). In addition guidelines (2004 and 2007)have been drawn up to harmonise care across early pregnancy units in UK and set standards for patient care (see guidelines) All women with early pregnancy problems should have prompt access to a dedicated early pregnancy unit (EPU)that provides efficient management and when necessary adequate counselling and appropriate treatment.
